Living with Narcolepsy – 5:30 PM
November 10, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Brandon Beck is a Youth Ambassador for Narcolepsy Network, a national non-profit organization that assists individuals with narcolepsy and related sleep disorders. Brandon is a member of Narcolepsy Network’s Youth Ambassador Leadership Advisory Team and serves as a Conference and Events Coordinator for the organization’s Youth Ambassador Program. To raise public awareness about narcolepsy and dispel the myths often associated with this rare, chronic neurological sleep disorder, he gives presentations to students, teachers, health professionals, and others at schools, organizations, and conferences. He also meets with doctors to discuss the impact of narcolepsy symptoms on teens and promote the importance of early and accurate diagnosis, particularly in children and adolescents. On Capitol Hill and in his community, he speaks with legislators to shine a light on policies and legislation that affect the sleep and rare disease communities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Brandon virtually connects with children, teens, young adults and others through webinars and online support groups. He is dedicated to improving the lives of others by advocating for increased funding for education and medical research to find cures for narcolepsy and other rare diseases.
