Inspire works with a patient’s natural breathing process to treat sleep apnea.
By delivering stimulation to key airway muscles, Inspire allows the airway to remain open during sleep. Patients use a small remote control to turn the treatment on before going to bed and off when they wake up. No mask or hose needed.
Watch the video below as our founder, Lauri Leadley, is interviewed by 3TV about this life-saving new treatment.
The Inspire Procedure:
The entire system includes a battery and 2 wires. This Inspire system is placed beneath the skin of the neck and shoulder area during a quick outpatient procedure.
- No mask.
- No hose.
- Just sleep.
The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. For some patients, an overnight stay may be required. During a follow-up visit, the system is activated and personalized to the patient, who then controls the system with a handheld remote, turning it on before bed and off after waking.
Results:
- 90% of bed partners report no snoring or soft snoring.
- 79% reduction in sleep apnea events.
- 94% of people are satisfied with Inspire.
- 96% of Inspire patients say Inspire is better than CPAP & would recommend Inspire to others.
Appropriate candidates for the procedure are:
- Diagnosed with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea
- Unable to use a CPAP or derive a consistent benefit from it
- Age 23 and older
- Not significantly overweight (BMI of 32 or less)
Inspire Therapy is provided as part of the complete sleep health management services available at Valley Sleep Center.
