Valley Sleep Center is now offering their patients oral appliance therapy, a new alternative to the traditional CPAP treatment for sleep apnea.

Oral appliances for sleep apnea repositions the jaw, so that the airway doesn’t collapse during sleep. While it does not work for everyone, Valley Sleep Center has the technology that allows us to predict who will likely benefit, prior to making the oral appliance.

Oral appliance therapy is provided by Dr. Barry Freydberg DDS, at our clinics in Mesa and Scottsdale.

Dr. Freydberg is internationally recognized for teaching dentists the science, protocols and practice of Dental Sleep Medicine and he recently received the distinguished alumni award, as well as the Gordon J. Christensen Lecturer Award, from the Chicago Dental Society which acknowledges his contribution to the dental profession.

Under the guidelines of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, candidates for oral appliances include

  1. Patients who have mild or moderate sleep apnea and prefer an oral appliance.
  2. Patients who have severe sleep apnea and cannot wear a CPAP
  3. Patients who want to use the portability of an oral appliance for travel.

For those patients who currently use a CPAP mask, Valley Sleep Center does not substitute with an oral appliance, unless it’s for travel, places without night time electricity, or other unique situations.

Valley Sleep Center offers no charge consultations with Dr. Freydberg after you have had your initial consultation with one of our sleep physicians and confirmed that you have a sleep disorder.
